Jayaram
Jayaram born as Jayaram Subramaniam on 10th December 165 is an Indian film actor who mainly acts in Malayalam and Tamil films. Jayaram was born into a Tamil speaking Kerala Iyer family in Perumbavoor, Kerala. Jayaram completed his Bachelor’s Degree from Sri Sankara College, Kaladi. Jayaram is also a Chenda Percussionist and mimic artist. In the year 2011, he was awarded Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contribution towards the arts.
After college, Jayaram joined a professional mimicry group in Kochi named Kalabhavan. At the age of 23, he was introduced into the film industry by script maker and film maker Padmarajan who gave his launching pad with the 1988 film Aparan.
Jayaram is married to actress Parvathy, who is no longer active in films. Their son Kalidasan is a child film artist who won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist in 2003 for his second movie, Ente Veedu Appoontem. Jayaram also has a daughter, Malavika. The family lives in Chennai and Cochin.
Jayaram has won various awards and has been nominated in various categories. The other awards bagged by him were J.C Foundation award for the Best Performance in 2008 movie Veruthe Oru Bharya, V. Shantaram award for his performance in Shesham in 2002, Sini Best Actor Award for Thooval kottaram ( 1996) and Rotary Club Award for Thooval Kottaram (1996).
